Our amazing journey began on Wednesday as an amazing race. Chicago’s weather and air traffic issues delayed our departure by 2 1/2 hours from Sioux Falls. When we arrived in Chicago O'Hare at 11:00 pm we RAN from Gate F2 to B16, but our plane had left. There was a flight leaving for Munich that had been delayed and there were 2 open seats for us. So on Thursday morning, at 12:30 am, we boarded the flight to Munich. We had a good flight through the night, both being able to rest. When we got to Munich we learned that our connecting flight had already departed for Cairo and there were no more out until Friday. So they booked us on a flight to Frankfurt which we could make if we RAN. We got through security and to the gate in time to walk onto the plane. We later flew from Frankfurt to Cairo.
We collapsed into a wonderful bed at 5:00 am – 38 hours after getting out of our own bed on Wednesday morning! But we still got up at 8:30 and and enjoyed a delicious breakfast buffet. We are relaxed and took all the delays in stride. Lois’ ears stayed open – the best they’ve been in 20 years of flying!

ReplyDeleteGlad for the update. I'll print it and bring it to Mom in the morning. We're glad all the alternate routes finally got you to Cairo. Praise God that Lois took the flight so well!
